Yu-Mex is a music genre that emerged in the former Yugoslavia in the 1960s and 1970s, combining traditional Yugoslav folk music with Mexican and Latin American rhythms. The genre became popular in the 1980s and was characterized by its upbeat tempo, accordion and brass instrumentation, and lyrics that often dealt with love and heartbreak. Yu-Mex was particularly popular in Croatia, where it produced several notable performers.
